After 2 weeks of waiting i have internet at home. i take maximal package, so download speed can be up to 16Mbit/sec. Yesterday i had tested connection with downloading of OpenSuSE 10.2 DVD. Entire DVD (3.7Gb) was downloaded less than 2 hours, with average speed ~ 700 Kb/sec.
Before this i had seen such speeds only when i downloaded data via LAN ;-)
So, now i can test my content-filtering solutions with real speed. Next step is building a build/test servers farm

ibm & functional languages
IBM continue to publish a articles about functional languages. In new article discussed lazy evaluation techniques with examples in Scheme language.
This article is short, and i think, that is better to refer to classical book about programming - SICP, to read about streams, and other examples of lazy evaluation usage.

handhelds
Finnaly (after one month waiting) i got from Conrad.de my new handheld Acer N311. At first look, it looks very good - very big screen (640x480), no problem with usage of 3 languages (english, german & russian), long working battery pack (removable).
So, after 5 years of usage of PalmOS, i had switched to Windows-based handhelds.

linuxes
Yesterday i had tried to install Linux to my new Dell Optiplex 745, and had many troubles. I had tried to install Debian testing, but it doesn't see cdrom, hdd & networc card. I'm also tried to boot from Knoppix live-dvd, but it also fail to find cdrom.
After 3 hours of experiments, i booted from Ubuntu (XUbuntu) 6.10 live-cd and it found all hardware! So now i write from Ubuntu box ;-)
